What is it
Every character in the world has a unique Unicode code point, written as U+0041 (hexadecimal) and expressed in decimal or as an HTML entity A.
Notes & fun facts
When building multilingual websites, debugging encoding problems or labelling emoji assets, knowing the exact code point of every character saves hours of guesswork.
Origin & history
The Unicode Consortium released its first unified character encoding standard in 1991, assigning every character of the world — including Han characters, kana, Arabic script and emoji — a unique number called a code point. Earlier, each region used its own incompatible encoding; Unicode's unified numbering fundamentally solved the garbled-text problem across languages and platforms.
