Inflation & Purchasing Power Calculator
Inflation calculator that shows exactly how inflation erodes the purchasing power of your money. Enter an amount of money, an average annual inflation rate and a number of years, and instantly see three key numbers: how much money you will need in the future to buy the same goods as today, what your current money will really be worth in the future, and how much purchasing power is silently lost to inflation. A year-by-year table compares the future amount needed and the real value of your money every single year, so you can understand the long-term cost of inflation at a glance. Whether you are planning retirement, insurance, education funds or long-term savings, adjusting for inflation is the difference between a nominal number and a real one. All calculations run locally in your browser with no registration and no upload; the bilingual interface, responsive layout and one-click PNG download make this a clean, elegant and free tool for everyone.

What is it
Inflation means the same banknote buys less over time. If the annual inflation rate is r, then after n years you need Amount × (1+r)^n to buy what you can buy today — and today's amount will only be worth Amount ÷ (1+r)^n in real terms. This calculator shows both sides of the coin, plus the total purchasing power lost, year by year.
Notes & fun facts
A classic example: a bowl of noodles that cost a few yuan decades ago may cost twenty times more today. That is not because noodles changed — it is inflation. People who keep money under the mattress watch its purchasing power quietly shrink; this calculator makes the shrinkage visible and honest.
Origin & history
Measuring inflation is a modern practice: price indexes were developed in the early 20th century, and consumer price indexes (CPI) became standard tools after World War II. Central banks now target inflation rates explicitly, making purchasing power a central question of personal finance.
