What is it
The Chinese lunar calendar is a lunisolar calendar built on moon phases and solar terms — convert any date between 1900 and 2100 in both directions and see the zodiac and solar terms at a glance.
Notes & fun facts
Lunar dates carry festivals, birthdays and traditions that the Gregorian calendar cannot express — a quick two-way converter keeps both worlds in sync.
Origin & history
The lunar calendar is China's traditional lunisolar system: months follow the moon phases, farming seasons are set by the twenty-four solar terms, and years run in the sexagenary cycle with zodiac animals. For thousands of years it guided agriculture and seasonal festivals; the current lunar calendar continues the traditional synodic-month and intercalation rules, refined through the calendar reforms of the twentieth century and still used today for Spring Festival, Dragon Boat and Mid-Autumn Festival.
