Age Calculator
Calculate your exact age in years, months and days, the next birthday countdown, days lived, zodiac sign and Chinese zodiac.
What is it
Your age is not just a number of years — birthdays skip months and days, so "30 years old" hides the leftover months and days. This tool subtracts your birth date from today piece by piece: years first, then months, then the leftover days. It also counts every single day you have lived and tells you exactly when your next birthday arrives.
Notes & fun facts
Astronaut John Glenn was 77 when he returned to space in 1998, making him the oldest person to orbit Earth at the time. And the oldest verified person ever, Jeanne Calment, lived to 122 years and 164 days — she reportedly met Van Gogh as a girl. Age really is just a very precise count of days.
Origin & history
The Gregorian calendar we use today came from the 1582 reform that fixed the ten-day drift the older Julian calendar had accumulated, making cross-century date arithmetic reliable. Before that, European countries used different calendars, and working out someone's age could easily be off by days. The zodiac signs and Chinese animals shown below trace back separately to Babylonian astronomy and the Han-dynasty twelve Earthly Branches — two old traditions that share a birthday card with exact age counting.
